STAGECRAFT BY HANNAH HEILMANN
Politikens Forhal, Rådhuspladsen 37, 1785 Copenhagen
In the solo exhibition Stagecraft, visual artist Hannah Heilmann presents a series of new works that revolve around climate change, biodiversity crisis and ecosystem collapse.
However, Heilmann's motif world does not include burning forests or green frogs. Instead, she directs her gaze towards our everyday lives and the ways in which we are in contact with the eco-crisis. Sculptures in the form of found windows, worked into photograms and monotypes, ceramic straw hats that take the form of plates and a glass of used contact lenses together create a scenography that almost paraphrases an interior. Here and there a small neurotic collection of food containers emerges, as an insistent reminder of how our possibilities to act are reduced to the role of consumers. Heilmann's works examine the obtuse ways in which everyday life is connected to the ecosystems that sustain our existence.
The exhibition is open from June 20 to September 5, Monday-Friday 07:30-7 pm, Saturday 10-6 pm, Sunday 10-5 pm
