NIELS PUGHOLM: NEW EYES ON THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY

GROUP EXHIBITION, THE MUSEUM OF NATIONAL HISTORY, HILLERØD, DK

NEW EYES ON THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY WITH NIELS PUGHOLM

Frederiksborg - The Museum of National History, Frederiksborg Castle, 3400 Hillerød

Frederiksborg - The National History Museum presents from 26 June a newly adjusted art collection from the 20th and 21st centuries. With the adjustment, the exhibition on the 3rd floor provides a more dynamic and nuanced insight into Denmark's recent histories. 71 works, the majority of which have never been exhibited, are taken from the museum's magazines. Six works are completely new to the collection and acquired prior to the adjustment.

Niels Pugholm's “Covid pots” have been acquisited for the exhibition. Pugholm’s ceramic series reflects recent years of Danish and world history. With the pots, Pugholm has created a kind of modern history painting with the scenes we all remember from the pandemic; countless press conferences, nasal swabs, the vaccine when it finally came, and finally a bedridden, sick girl – a motif that was popular in Nordic art around 1880-1900.
